“Freedom is dangerous, the system exists to be wrangled, not upended. Giam will never get that, Valeria, perhaps his heads gone dull from old age or something of the sorts.” Cecco Fania, Herus of the Legio Cacciare

In a system as rigid as that of the Inquisition, men are bound to flake off the whole and take it upon themselves to enact any sort of change they can make, Giam Alghieri has embodied this virtue since his induction into the Ordo di Santa Cassia as a youth. Disenfranchised by the nature of the state’s religious apparatus, he struck back at them in silence before finally betraying his order to become a rogue. Giam had been responsible for various terroristic attacks across Ascadia

Early Life

House Alghieri, forged by fire in their eastward retreat over the generations had finally settled in the fertile heartland of Corbaglia at request of a young king Alessandro IV of House Tizzone. The family, then comprised of Giam’s parents Giovanna and Corso Alghieri alongside his uncle Chiovo, had been decimated by the western conflicts raging through the County of Cione, their land and property seized by renegade knights well before the Ascadian League could levy support from the interior provinces. House Alghieri, being one of the few loyalist houses in Cione was favored by the King, and gifted a generous grape bearing parcel of farmland seized from a supporter of the Cioni Revolt by the Inquisition. Giam was born barely a year after this settling, and was immediately favored by the local institutions in the small city of Sassano, wherein he was inducted at the age of 8 into the Spellsword Order, Il Ordo di Santa Cassia, which he excelled within.
